Labor Day weekend

Okay, so I haven't been very good at updating the blog lately - it's the start of the school year. Forgive me!
We took a short family trip up to Pennsylvania this past weekend, spending Friday in DC one the way. Here are some random pics from our adventures in the capital city:
Gracie was a little scared when we first took the Metro from Pentagon City to Federal Triangle. Her "I scared" face reappeared. We went to the Museum of American History, which has always been one of my favorites. Some highlights included a lab for kids with interactive science activities, an original Dumbo from Disneyland (which got Gracie all excited), an original steam engine from 1832 (which got Benjamin all excited), the transportation exhibit which Jamie loved, and the Greensboro Lunch Counter interactive presentation and the Lewis and Clark exhibit - both topics Matthew will study in school this year.
After leaving the museum, we walked by the Washington Monument and the White House before boarding the Metro to return to where our car was. It's great to be able to take the kids to DC this way. They get to see the city a little at a time with each trip we take.
