God Bless the U.S.A.

We took the boys to a fair in a small town one county over from us. There was a free concert and the headliner was Lee Greenwood.

It was an awesome event, and we are proud to say that Matthew "got it."

He had been a bit whiney as the evening went on, but when Lee Greenwood ended his concert with "God Bless the U.S.A.", our eldest son got it. We could tell that the lessons his kindergarten teacher had taught by teaching the children about patriotic songs and loving our country had hit home. He understood what the deal was about seeing Lee Greenwood (and hopefully, too, why there was a military presence at the event which was in honor of a hometown hero from WWII).

If Skippy could talk, even he'd say "God Bless the U.S.A."
